It’s been cold this winter – REALLY cold. Just like I usually worry about my kid’s boots and clothes for the winters, so do I really worry about the cars that my family travels in. But that is all year long. So many factors come into play while choosing the perfect car for you. Then again, we’re not the only ones making the choice, right?
Today, I am going to get into a comparison of two astonishing SUVs – Porsche Cayenne S 2014 and Audi Q5 2.0L
Porsche Cayenne S boasts of a 8 Cylinder Engine as compared to a 4 Cylinder for Audi Q5. The result is an enormous amount of horsepower difference. The Porsche creates a horsepower of 400 @ 6500 RPM as opposed to 220 horsepower @ 4450 rpm for the Q5. Having said that, I have experienced the Q5 explode off the line like a rock – probably thanks to its low-end torque.
Both cars give almost the same amount of mileage going up to 23 mpg on a highway as opposed to a 16 mpg in the city. It is interesting to note though that some people have experienced up to more than 30 mpg on a Q5 on a highway – strange as it may sound. Surprisingly, this is more than what Audi has been advertising. So a long road trip is great in an Audi – taking care of your wallet as much as your comfort.
One thing that stands out in the Porsche Cayenne though is a vast difference in the Fuel Tank. It has a large 26.4 gallons fuel tank as opposed to a 19.8 gallons for Q5. Let me put it into perspective for you: a full tank in the Cayenne can enable you to take a road trip all the way to Ottawa from Oakville and back. What’s more? The car’s got GREAT cargo capacity of 62.9 cubic feet. So all your family bags are taken care of.
What is YOUR favorite SUV? We will be back further detailing the Cayenne and Q5 for other aspects such as interiors and exteriors. Stay tuned.
